Call him “The Golden Voice of Erogen Music” label. Call him the “Pretty
Boy” of zouk music. Or simply call him Jamice. He is talented; he can really
sing, and he is suave too. Oh  well, “Suave” is the title of his latest album,
which is certainly to become a musical sensation. We spoke to him and
find out what he has to say.

Afrowave: Jamice -- thanks for your time and congratulations. Your album "Suave"
really rocks! How do you feel after its release?

Jamice: Thank you! Thank you for allowing me to express myself on your site…I feel a little
bit anxious because anytime we have a new album it makes us feel like we starting all over
again. But I hope that my public will appreciate this new «opus.»

This is your 3rd solo album. How is it different from your previous albums?
Jamice:
We took time to work on all the songs. We started 6 months ago. But it is also very rewarding having spent all this time travelling, performing in various places, attending meetings and working with people such as Elie Lapointe, a young haitian guitarist ; Mika Mendes, a rising cape-verdian as well as Abege, the young rappers of Sushiraw's clan (who always display a colorful hip-hop style that I like very much). As you see, we reached out to all these people, so we can make a rich and diversified album.

Is this album "Suave" the REAL deal? Is this your best so far?
Jamice: I think that it's more thoughful, more diverse, and more mature; So, yes it is the best this far.

There are so many great hits on this album. What are your favorite tracks and why?
Jamice: Hmm…I don't really have a favorite song. They all are different; they all have a history. It is difficult to make a choice. The public will decide (smile).

How does "suave" theme fit into the whole album?
Jamice: That is what Jamice is. Jamice is «Suave» by definition. I did nothing but translate what I feel within myself..

Your talent on the side, your contributed the most on the process of making this album?
Jamice:
I brought my own style, my own color, but I am also lucky to be in a solid and rich team full of experience. My friend Nichols (thank you for your patience!!!); F Wurtz and T Doumergue (I admire your talent, thank you guys!); my manager Krystel -- who listens to all the tracks and contructively criticizes them (lol). All that said, «our music is like our baby.»

Let's talk about you... being born in Paris to a Dominican mother and an Andalusian father, how important is your background in your musical career?

Jamice: It's always difficult to speak about oneself. Nevertheless, my origins are my larger richness and it seems natural and important to me tht my background has shaped up my music. Now, imagine how happy I get when I hear that my music travels all over the world. That's happiness!

Will you try to import RnB Zouk to the Dominican Republic?
Jamice: Why not?! Music is universal. But I do not consider my musical style RnB Zouk music. It is rather, Latin, Caribbean, Portuguese, and Haitian tones put together creating a musical co-education and an universal zouk, a mixture!

Erogen Music, your label, is full of talent. How do you fit in?
Jamice: Erogen Music is a way of work, a rigor. It was difficult at the beginning, but I consider my integration within erogen music a great victory over myself. Being a reserved person, it was hard to share my emotions and my feelings, but the balance brought by my team enabled me to find and give the best of myself. I now have the privilege of becoming the 1st artist (Except Nichols) signed within the label. I also have responsibilities like setting an example for those that followed me. The label is a great family today, and I am proud to be part of it and to share the adventures.

What's next for you? Promotion and promotion?
Jamice: Yup!! For now, promotion and promotion. My manager Krystel Deby has already planned a big live tour and club appearances for this year, which will begin with the album release party in Portugal : May 4th in Lisbon and May 5th in Porto. I also have some showcase in Fnac' shops (accoustic shows) a few days prior in different cities, followed by a tour to Canada, the United States, the West indies, Cape Verde for the Gamboa Festival, and back to Europe. You can find all the information on: www.erogenmusic.com - www.myspace.com/jamicesite . For the moment, I am getting myself prepared “morally and physically.” As you imagine, I am taking a lot of vitamins (lol). Thank you mi gata loca!!

Jamice thanks again and we wish you best of luck...
Jamice: Thank you and long life to afrowave.com. Thanks for the support!!!
