Born in the Netherlands (Holland) 22 years ago, his accomplishments are stunning and many well-established musicians and artists are now relying on his writings.
We know him as William and his first solo album is entitled "0-21." Despite his age, his music and lyrics are filled with love, passion and entertainment. After all, he has the blessings of an already-reputable team, Mobass Productions. With this "young blood," they're rocking the world, once again.

Afrowave.com : Hi William, thanks much for joining us -- and welcome to Afrowave Radio
William : Thank you

Afrowave.com : Let's start with the simple question. Your first album is entitled "0-21." Would you explain us its meaning?
William : Well, "0-21" is like a documentary of my life from teen years to the adult's life. These songs represent the things that I went through up to age of 21.

Afrowave.com : It definitely means "something" to you. That said, how do you describe this first solo album -- musically and artistically?
William : This first album reflects my soul and tells people something about who I am. Musically, it reflects all the genres of music that I like: acoustic, RnB, Zouk, Jazz, etc. Another passion of mine is poetry and I also wanted to show that "side" of me in the lyrics. And as far as artistic freedom, my label Mobass had given me the opportunity to be as free as I wanted to be.

:
I can only imagine that you must be satisfied with this first solo...
William : Yes I am.

Afrowave.com : How is it possible for someone born in Holland to sing in the Cape Verdean Creole so well and so sweet?
William : (smile) Thanks. Well, I learned to speak Creole before I could speak Dutch. I grew up with my grand-parents and at home all we spoke was Creole -- at least for the most time.

Afrowave.com : Mobass Productions were behind this album, but at the same your "connection" with them is more than professional -- actually you have a sort of family relationship with some of them. Can you me elaborate more on this?
William : At Mobass we are like a big family by blood and/or in spirit. In my case, it's more in spirit with everyone, except for my little sister Jassica. What began as a professional relationship later became a family relationship.

Afrowave.com : It does make sense that sort of relationship -- now, I have learned that you actually started playing musical instruments since you were 6 years old. How significant has been this fact on your new career?
William :
First of all, it allows me to create my own sound and compose my own songs much easier. Having a family that practices music helps a lot and music has been imprinted on me from a very young age. It's like learning how to read and once you do, ones can't forget it.

Afrowave.com : Now -- how successful has been your first album so far?
William : I'm very happy that it's being accepted so well by the people, especially because I'm a new singer and the album is little different from what people are used to hear. So, for me it has been very successful so far and I thank everyone for being so-opened minded.

Afrowave.com : Despite the fact that you're still "new" on this, it seems that you have already worked with the biggest names in the industry such as Philip Monteiro, Djey, Johnny Ramos, Gama, Lily Spencer...
William : Yes, it has been very rewarding. I've learned a lot about the industry by working with these artists who I used to look up to when I was still a little boy. Now, having them complimenting my talent and wanting to work with me, means a lot to me.

Afrowave.com : What is next for you, William?
William : Now I'm touring, performing and writing a lot for other Mobass artists and for the Mobass 3. After that, I will be to studio for the second album.

Afrowave.com : When can we expect your 2nd album and how will it be different from this one?
William : It will be in roughly 2 years. It will be different from this one because the second album will have more traditional influences, acoustic sounds and worldmusic taste. I feel that I'm growing as an artist every day, so my next album will have more mature. I'm 22 now and I hope to reach my goals by the time I am on my 30's.

Afrowave.com : Best of luck William!
William : Thank you very much!
